Gareth Conyard

I am the CEO of an education charity, the Teacher Development Trust, and a former civil servant.

I began my career in the then Department for Education and Skills in 2003, and have worked in various policy roles from early years through to higher education, as well as being an Education Advisor for the Department for International Development. Highlights include working on raising the school leaving age, the Nutbrown Review, and leading the introduction of the Early Career Framework.

Having reached the senior civil service, I left the Department for Education in 2022 to work in the education charity sector, and currently run the Teacher Development Trust, a charity dedicated to supporting the professional development of teachers including delivering National Professional Qualifications (rated Outstanding by Ofsted). It also advocates for policy changes. Recent work includes a report on how an entitlement to CPD for teachers and school leaders can be introduced.

I have a Bachelors in History and a Masters in Politics and Government.
